Welcome to the World, Baby Kahler!

Introducing the newest addition to our family...
Kahler William
(pronounced "Kay-ler")
Date of Birth: Wednesday, September 10th, 2008
Time: 4:03 PM
Weight: 8 lbs. 13 0z.
Length: 21.25 inches

He's finally here everyone! And thankfully arrived 8 days early:) He's a handsome little fella and looks a lot like his big brother as a baby. So I'll tell the whole story with how everything went down, so brace yourselves for a rather lengthy post!

Labor & Delivery

*@ around 10 am Wednesday morning I started having rather sharp contractions. But I didn't think they were the real thing considering I wasn't feeling any back labor at all...it was just all directly in the front. So I kept going about my usual business and proceeded to feed Isaac breakfast. That was about when they were getting very consistent every 5 minutes or so. I still wasn't convinced though thinking they were long enough yet. However, poor Isaac only got cheerios and bananas that morning since I couldn't stand up longer than 5 minutes when another one hit. Silly me was still in denial I think!

*So my Grandma came over from next door and had me convinced to make some phone calls cuz she was realizing how much pain I was in. From that point on they got pretty intense. I finally called Brock to warn him and decided to call my midwife, Amy...who luckily was on that day! She told me to call her back if they shortened up at all, but not to wait too long since the second one can have a tendancy to come faster. Brock arrived soon after and started getting our stuff around to go to the hospital. This was it! I "tried" to relax with Isaac on the couch and timing contractions at the same time. I was getting kinda worried cuz Brock was taking his sweet 'ole time and thinking we needed to stay as home as long as possible! I didn't think so!

*We left for the hospital a bit after 1 and arrived close to 1:30 and checked in. Amy checked me as soon as I got there and I was a good 4 cm dialated and almost completely effaced already. So we started getting me hooked up and all that good stuff. Here's a pic of me in the middle of a contraction. (Brock thought it was pretty funny!)
*From that point on my mind went back and forth debating on getting an epidural again. All my pain was in front and I was pretty much getting though the contractions rather well I guess. I was checked again after a bit and dialated to 6 cm, so Amy told me I needed to decide if I was going to do it or not. At that point we got some Nubane (sp) drugs and that definitely relaxed me really well during the contractions. So I made the decision to not do the epidural this time. I couldn't believe it!

*After some intense contractions I dialated really fast. Then she broke my water and everything sped up a lot after that.

*At 3:15 PM I started the pushing. Always an extreme and tiring work out! The main discomfort I was having once he started dropping was this horrible pain in my left side. It was driving me crazy!
*@ 4:03 PM little Kahler made his appearance. And not only that, he was facing my left leg coming out...OOPS! Defintely explained the extreme discomfort I was having there. As soon as she turned him..it was gone and he came out:) WHEW!
(45 min. of pushing was a TON better than 2.5 hours! yeah!)

Here we are...my first time getting to hold him:)

Daddy cutting the cord...
Family photo...I love it how my hubby looks so darn good and I look like a train wreck:P Isn't it nice ladies?:)
*So everything up to that point went great! Probably couldn't have gone any better. I had the chance to nurse him right away and he latched right on. During that time though, things started going down hill for me. So here's more to the story:

Post Delivery
(Warning: for those that do not like "to much detail" you probably don't want to read this part!)

*After the arrival of the baby there's just one more thing you gotta do, and that's pushing the placenta out. Well...that didn't go like it was supposed to. I was nursing Kahler at this point and Amy was having me keep trying to push it out. Well nothing was happening. All that was happening was more bleeding. Normally the delivery of a placent is about 20-25 min after...well we were going on 45 min. and Amy was getting worried. She didn't think it was attached correctly and all it was coming out were membranes.

*Into that I was nursing Kahler and told Brock he had to take the baby cuz I was instantly feeling dizzy and light headed. Things went down hill pretty fast from there. My blood pressure started to drop dramatically. Amy got a hold of a specialist to attempt to get the rest of the placenta out. They gave me more drugs to have me sleep and kind of be out of it. That was the strangest thing. As we were waiting for this doctor I was in and out of sleep and could hear people talking to me and not knowing what the heck was going on. It was awful. Brock gave Kahler to my Mom and he was right beside me the whole time trying to keep me communicating with him.

*Finally the doctor showed up and basically numbed me so I couldn't feel pain. However I could still feel pressure. After several attempts of her trying to get it out, all she was getting were pieces of the placenta. Definitely not good. During that my blood pressure bottomed out at a very frightening 52/23. That was the point my husband said I looked like a ghost and let's just say it was the scariest thing he's ever been through.

*They made a quick decision to put me completely out to remove the rest. This whole thing felt like a huge dream to me. That procedure took 4-5 min. and they got it all out and it was over. Next thing I knew I woke up in the post-partum room. My blood pressure continued to be in critical condition as it was only in the high 50's/ 60's.

*After I woke up and came to, they set up a blood transfusion for me at around 6 pm. I had lost an extreme amount of blood and it took a lot for me to feel back to myself. I wasn't allowed to get out of bed for the longest time.

*I was considered in critical condition until 3 am that morning:/ It was insane.

*Here's a couple pics during that time. Grandma got a lot of bonding with Kahler while we were going through all of that....

Only a couple family members came in that night to see us. Let's just say I wasn't all with it to even be up to talking with anyone.
Here's Grandma Linda...

Finally a picture of Daddy and Kahler. I couldn't do all the usual post-pics that we would normally get.

And finally some bonding time with Mommy. This little guy was the best baby ever for me! He didn't cry once while we stayed at the hospital...no joke! And he even drank a bottle during the night since I wasn't allowed to nurse him:( That was sad for me...but so thankful he was so versitale!

Thursday morning: Getting the little dude dressed up in his football gear for the day!
Checking out his new mommy:)

Yay for Visitors!
Finally on to happier things:)
Thursday afternoon we had a visit from Darcy....

...and little Miss Adie! That's enough right there to brighten your day! (And the fact that Darce made us some AMAZING cookies too!!) Thank u:)

And the highlight of our day...Isaac!! He finally got to come see us Thursday evening. It was so incredibly great to see him...and weird too! My little baby looked like a huge toddler to me!
Giving Isaac his new toy! (No he's not spoiled at all;))
Our 1st family photo of the FOUR of us! How weird! (and I was excited about this pic cuz Isaac is acutally looking at the camera AND smiling:)
The cousins came to visit too! Here's Brady...and new baby cousin, Kloie! (Just 2 days older)...She greeted Kahler with a kiss:) ...or she was hungry! ha ha!
2 peas in a pod:)

Proud Grandparents with #'s 5 & 6! 1 more to go!

Me and my sister, Kristi with our babies

Grandma

*Friday morning: Yeah we had to stay another night considering my condition...which I hated cuz hospitals make me crazy after too long! They were checking me over night again and my blood pressure finally got up to high 90's so they felt better about that and my vitals.

*That morning Kahler got his hospital pictures taken. Daddy came up with the idea of doing a Goshen picture...of course;) They did turn out pretty cute actually...
*After all that and a busy morning, a final decision was made to have another blood transfusion done for me. So that was done at noon that day and ended at 2. We got to start getting things around to go home after that was all done.
Here's Kahler ready for the ride home!

We arrived back at the house close to 5 PM. Our first visitors were Aunt Buff, Lincoln....

...and Uncle Brian. Lincoln definitely is a BIG cousin now!

*Saturday: Daddy and Kahler enjoying some college football on TV:)

And after THREE days away from us...Isaac finally came home to see us and his new baby brother! Let the adventures begin!

All settled in and loving his boppy lounger...the best bought item we ever got for our babies!

And last but not least.....
"Kahler's Korner"
Clever huh?:)
I promised pictures of his finished area in our bedroom. Last Monday I luckily went and bought bedding for him @ Target. I LOVE it!

Stripes and polka dots in brown and blue

And Mr. Kahler enjoying his Colts mobile!

So that's the whole story! Hope you enjoyed our adventure:) Any visitors are welcome at our home!
...and MOTTS mommy readers...hopefully I'll see you all next time! Wished I coulda been there last Thursday, but we were a little occupied:) So we'll see how this week goes and hopefully I can be there...

Many more stories to come of Kahler in the future!

Baby Girl Yoder's name is....

Kloie Rose!!
My new baby niece got a name...finally:)
I must say...very pretty...and I love how they're spelling it! And lots of K's now in the family!
(Kristi, Kylie and Kloie)
...and just wait to see what ours is! Yup...another K! = KONFUSING! Ha ha! But that can wait til he comes:)
Funny though that right now I associate this new name with my Grandma W's dog, Chloe! My brother-in-law's comment to that was "she isn't gonna live forever"! (He meant the dog!) Real nice huh! So it'll take some getting used to with both Chloe/Kloie's around:)

Welcome Baby Girl Yoder! & 39 Week Update...

My new baby niece has arrived! She was born @ 4:17 Monday morning and weighed a healthy 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Good sized baby girl, and the biggest of Kristi's 3 kids!
My sister is a pro at having babies, considering her water broke at home at almost midnight...then she pushed her right out after a short 4 hours of labor (and no epidural!) Yeah...she has amazing pain tolerance! (And yeah, she made it to the hospital on time...no home birth!)
One problem...as of today at 3:00 PM STILL NO NAME!! My sister and her husband are so funny about this, and it got worse and worse with #3! The first 2 kids' names were decided pretty much right there in the hospital after they were born. This time, they didn't even have any ideas for either sex since it was a surprise baby this time. So it's taking them awhile for a decision! Hope they have one they like to put on the birth certificate before they go home today!
So..."no-name baby girl"...hopefully we can call you something soon!! : )
She is a beauty though, isn't she?! :)
And I got to see her wide awake! She looks SO much like her big sister, Kylie when she was born!
And she has a beautiful head of hair, hardly any marks or bruising on her face...and has the silliest blonde spot of hair on top of her head!
I'll keep ya posted on a name as soon as I find out myself!
Welcome Grand-baby #5!!
Now...the 39 week update:
*Measuring right on @ 39 wks!
*Dialated 3-4 cm
*60% effaced/thinned out
*Head has dropped even more...so we're at a -1 or -2. Definitely explains the extreme pressure I had in my hips last night...holy cow!
*Positioning: Little booger is down correctly, but is facing the side instead of facing my spine. So we were feeling bony knees or something today:/ He better cooperate!
*So ...we're still doing the waiting game:P My husband is so silly and is being a little picky on the date I can have this baby! He can't have me have him on a Tues or Thurs due to the fact he is teaching a brand new computer class that he would HATE for a sub to take over while he's at the hospital. So I will have to live with the fact that he would need to leave me for an hour and a half should I decide to go during the day! UGH! (Don't think he'll have much of a choice!) So tomorrow, Thursday evening or Friday would be pretty great right now:)

Moving out photos, the NEW PAD!, Waky Resale, & 3 pregger sisters!

So we're back blogging with PICTURES! Thanks to my Dad's speedy laptop, I can get tons on here in no time:)
Anyways, lots goin' on past couple of days. But first here's some pics of the moving out of our house. Isaac was being pretty entertaining and "helping" mommy get things packed up!

Here's my silly guy with a belt of all things to play with! Doesn't take much to entertain him!
Not so sure what's going on with all these boxes and bins around the house....
Oh what a mess! This just drove me crazy the whole time! And still Isaac is running around with the belt! ha ha!
Taking his last nap in his house:( That kind of stuff made me sad cuz this was ours and his first home. So I just keep thinking we're moving on to bigger and better things:)
Chillin' watching a movie while I finish packing things up.
So...NOW we're settled in and I have pics of the new pad for you all to enjoy:)
Here's Isaac enjoying his football recliner....
This is the view coming down the stairs. To the left is where we're organizing a kitchen area. We'll be putting a fridge and microwave over there after some rearranging.
In the back of the room is my Dad's famous train city! He got this from a guy that was just gonna trash everything, so Dad made this his new hobby. My nephew Brady loves to play with it. It does take up a good portion of the room, but heck it's also making great use for all of our storage bins! (see below table! Yikes!)

And here's our fabulous living room! I love the fact that it walks right out to the river...SWEET! The couches are extremely comfortable too. All we really did was add our lamps for lighting and it immediately felt cozy! Here's a picture with better lighting I took the other evening.

Brock's favorite part of the room...the TV! ha ha! Definitely an improvement from our amish TV that was pretty much fuzzy all the time:) To the left is Isaac's toy area, and the right side is where Isaac sleeps. He is surprisingly doing awesome sleeping through the night down here now. I'm so glad!! Hopefully he still does ok when the baby is crying in the next room:/

Behind the couch and sliding doors is the pack-n-play for the baby. And our desk/work area. I'm so glad now our desk didn't sell in our previous garage sale! We didn't have an area for our bills and what not in our old house, so this is pretty handy to use!

I couldn't resist a picture of my cutie pie this morning chilling on the couch having his wake up bottle! He is loving his new "crib"!

Our bedroom. This used to be my territory my senior year in high school and when I came home from Purdue. Bathroom and closet....

And last but not least....the baby corner! My mom got this crib at a garage sale...good deal! My goal today is to go find some bedding and get everything more put together. Everything is all over the place right now! So stay tuned for some pics of the finished product:)

Hope you enjoyed the tour of our new, temporary home! So when this baby comes, feel free to visit!

On to more fun stuff...last weekend was the Waky Resale and it was awesome! Thanks Darce for getting me convinced to get my hiney there! It was SO worth it! My sister-in-law, her mom and my mom set out at 5:30 AM to leave and get there at 6 AM to get in line! We did it hard core! We were the first ones in line with our lawn chairs...so hilarious! So we were pretty proud of that and made an adventure out of it! We were the first ones to go in on the first floor for the large items/ toys area.

I was lucky to find a double stroller! AND it's very cute! I was so excited! (But my preggo butt was too lazy to unfold it this morning so I don't have a pic of it:) ) I also stocked up on Isaac and baby clothes for the fall/winter season. Super excited for the cheapness of those things too!

However, I do have pics of what my mom found for her grand-babies:)
A beautiful bassinet for the babies...so adorable!

And an awesome fire truck toddler bed! This was already a huge hit with the grand kids!

And last night we did our weekly Sunday get-together at my parent's. My mom had the idea of getting all of us pregger sisters together for a picture. Yeah kinda cheesy at the time, but hey, when will this ever happen again?! And it's a darn good thing we did this last night cuz one of the babies made their appearance early this morning! And it wasn't mine! My sister went into labor late last night when they were at home and her surprise baby girl arrived @ 4:17 AM! Stay tuned for my post of my new baby niece who I'm going to visit later this afternoon! So excited to meet her!

So here are the 3 of us (well 6!) I didn't like this pic as much cuz I thought I looked like a huge gray blob! So we turned sideways and showed the babies...

From left to right: My sister, Kristi @ 39 wks. (with surprise baby in there!) , then me @ 38 wks. and 3 days(with baby boy), my sister-in-law, Liz @ 33 wks.(also with a baby boy)!
My sister and I carry our babies pretty differently, which I think looks crazy in this picture! And then my sis-in-law is so stinkin' tall and skinny, she carries so small the entire time! Of course we're quite envious of her:)

So after all 3 of these babies arrive, we'll jump from 4 to 7 just like that! Whew!

Thanks for reading up on my extremely long post!

There will be plenty more to come soon:

*My new baby niece, my 39 week appointment tomorrow, and the baby room!

Life is good:)

38 Week Baby Update!

Appointment for 2 weeks to go was today!
...Unfortunately not so much new news :-/ Kinda a bummer:(
*Got the usual "You can go any time now" and all that jazz.
*Dialated just over 2 cm and thinning out a little. Guess it's better than 1 cm:P
*Baby is in good positioning still.
*Measuring right on at 38 weeks. Still not a massive baby:)
*Haven't had many contractions going on right now so I'm not really surprised.
So... we'll see what happens!
I know...boring posts with no pictures! I'm a good blog reader when there's pics to go with it;) So sorry for the lack there-of! :)

We're Moved In!! Whew!

What a weekend! Labor Day was definitely the opposite for my family this weekend, cuz we've done nothing BUT labor! And not baby labor either:) Saturday was the day we officially moved in to my parent's basement. It was pretty overwhelming and definitely a lot of work!
Sunday we had a caravan of trucks bring all of our storage bins. That seemed like A LOT of stuff! Not so fun to have to go through and organize I tell ya! My parents and Brock and I also went back into our house and did a thorough cleaning for our renter, Dave. He was so excited! He is definitely excited of everything happening with his moving too I'm so glad we're helping him out, just like he is for us! It's pretty great!
Today Brock and I did a lot more organizing and it's starting to feel a lot more homey:) I even think Isaac's starting to enjoy his new space too! He was kind of out of sorts with his whole world being turned upside down all at once! Just wait til his baby brother comes!
Well hopefully I can get some pics of the new pad uploaded onto a computer sometime. We're in the process of getting one hooked up soon.
Until then, I have my 38 week baby appointment tomorrow! So we'll see how things are going there! Since the moving is done, I'm ready for this little guy to come!
Unlike us, hope all of you are having a RELAXING labor day!
